JANUARY 2025 – Prayer and Fasting Guide

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”
 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Welcome to 21-Day Prayer and Fasting!

01/03/25 to 01/23/25
Fasting Daily: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM

As we enter 2025, Victory House International Ministries is committed to a period of fasting and prayer from January 3rd to January 23rd. This time is essential for seeking divine guidance in our ministry and personal lives.

Our daily fast will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., following the Daniel Fast principles of consuming fruits, vegetables, nuts, and water, as stated in Daniel 10:3. (A food guide is below.) During the Daniel Fast, eating is allowed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. No food is permitted from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, allowing your body time to rest and heal while you’re asleep.

Fasting and prayer are vital tools for this season, as emphasized in Mark 9:29: “This kind can come forth by nothing but by prayer and fasting.” When we commit to these practices, God promises to respond and reveal profound truths.

We also invite you to join us in our time of “Praying Through The Nations.”

We have two specific prayer times scheduled:

Third Watch Exhortation & Prayer Hour: Every Friday at midnight EST. Join by dialing 218-632-0314 and using access code 355697#.

15-Minute Power Prayer: Ongoing in 2025, every Wednesday at noon and Thursday at 8 PM. Participate by calling 218-632-0314 and using access code 355697#.

We look forward to you joining us in prayer and fasting for a powerful start to the new year.

Spiritual Benefits of Fasting:

The fast will heighten your spiritual sensitivity, making you keener to God’s will and leading to personal transformation through the Holy Spirit. This process draws you closer to God, helping you fulfill His purpose and bringing joy and fulfillment. The Bible highlights the spiritual benefits of fasting, including powerful breakthroughs, a deeper reverence for God, and a heart prepared to hear His voice. Fasting creates an environment for miracles, cultivates the fruits of the Spirit, and provides the strength to overcome spiritual challenges while discerning God’s will.

Physical Benefits of Fasting from 6 PM to 6 AM:

  • Rest and Healing: Fasting from 6 PM to 6 AM allows your body time to rest, heal, and recover while you sleep.
  • Improved Digestion: This fasting period can improve digestion and boost metabolism.
  • Detoxification: It provides an opportunity for your body to detoxify, reduce inflammation, and enhance cellular repair, contributing to better health and vitality.

Immune System Support:

  • Rest and Recovery: This fasting period allows your body to rest and recover, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy immune system.
  • Cellular Repair: During fasting, your body can focus on repairing and regenerating cells, including immune cells.
  • Reduced Inflammation: Fasting can help reduce inflammation, which benefits overall immune function.
  • Improved Digestion: Giving your digestive system a break can improve its efficiency and overall health, indirectly supporting your immune system.
By allowing your body time to rest and heal, fasting from 6 PM to 6 AM can contribute to a stronger and more resilient immune system and overall physical well-being.

WHY WE FAST:
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that involves dedicating time to pray and connect with the Lord, helping to deepen your commitment to your spiritual journey. It is not about earning favor or manipulating God; rather, it focuses on humbling ourselves and seeking His guidance.

For example, Daniel fasted for 21 days during times of distress, abstaining from meat and rich foods while consuming only fruits, vegetables, nuts, and water (Daniel 10:2–3). The Daniel Fast specifically involves refraining from meat, sweets, and bread and allows for drinking water, tea, or juice.

When done for spiritual reasons, fasting helps you sense God’s presence and become more attuned to His voice, as well as the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This practice emphasizes personal humility and sanctification instead of attempting to manipulate God.

Fasting is a sacred time dedicated to God, which allows for deeper engagement with His Word and a strengthened relationship with Him. We are interceding for you, seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and expecting a mighty move from Him. We anticipate and cherish this time with the Lord.

Scripture Support:

Isaiah 58:6-8: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

The Bible says He rewards those who seek Him wholeheartedly (Hebrews 11:6).

REMINDER:
Commit to pray, whether at home or during lunch. If you have health issues, consult your doctor before changing your medication, diet, or hydration.
If you can’t observe a complete or Daniel fast, consider alternatives like abstaining from social media, TV, or favorite treats while dedicating more time to prayer (1 Corinthians 7:1–5). Always follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
