Sure, here are the changes I made to your original text:
As we welcome 2024, Victory House International Ministries is once again committing the initial weeks of the year to a spiritual journey of fasting and prayer. This period, from January 3rd to January 23rd, is a dedicated time for seeking divine guidance for both our ministry and personal lives.
Our daily fast will last from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., during which we will follow the principles of the Daniel Fast. This includes consuming fruits, vegetables, nuts, and water, as referenced in Daniel 10:3. A detailed food guide will be provided for your reference.
Fasting and prayer are our spiritual tools for this season. As Mark 9:29 states, “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” This verse underscores the power of these practices in overcoming challenges. God assures us that when we fast and pray, He will respond and reveal profound truths beyond our understanding. Let’s embrace this transformative spiritual practice together.
In addition to fasting, we will also engage in prayer. We invite you to join us in our mission of “Praying Through The Nations.”
We have two specific prayer events scheduled:
-
Third Watch Exhortation & Prayer Hour: This event takes place every Friday at midnight (Eastern Standard Time). You can join us by dialing 218-632-0314 and using the access code 355697#.
-
15-Minute Power Prayer: This is a year-long event for 2023, with sessions scheduled every Wednesday at noon and every Thursday at 8 PM. You can participate by calling the same number, 218-632-0314, and using the same access code, 355697#.
We look forward to your participation. Let us come together in prayer and fasting for a powerful start to the new year.
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that involves dedicating specific time to pray and connect with the Lord, fostering a deeper commitment to your spiritual journey. It is not about earning favor or manipulating God, but humbling ourselves and seeking His guidance. This practice can lead to spiritual growth and sanctification as we learn to rely more on God.
Daniel, in times of distress and mourning, fasted for 21 days. He refrained from meat, rich food, or wine and instead consumed fruits, vegetables, nuts, and water (Daniel 10:3). The Daniel Fast involves abstaining from meat, sweets, and bread while drinking water, tea, or juice and eating fresh fruits and vegetables (Daniel 10:2–3). (See the food guide below.)
Fasting has been proven to have several wholesome benefits. When you fast for spiritual reasons, you truly sense God’s presence in your life. Your heart becomes more open to God’s voice and the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
This act of surrender is not intended to manipulate God into fulfilling your requests. Christ’s death on the cross on behalf of sinners satisfied the demands of the law and the justice of God. Therefore, we do not fast to eliminate sin or obtain merit with God.
